Caleb is a woodcarving of a neanderthal face. I am interested in archeology and anthropology and I thought that making a woodcarving of a neanderthal face in a block of lime wood would be an interesting subject.
I have always been fascinated with the story of Neanderthals and how they look and I wonder what happened to them and how did they become extinct. Scientists say that most of the human race is genetically related to Neanderthals.
I decided to paint Caleb in enamel paint without detail instead of acrylic with lots of detail. Enamel shows off the texture of the
woodcarving better than acrylic, I think!
